FOLKS IN THE WILD

The Film: Kodak UltraMax 400 (35mm)

The Camera: Canon EOS Rebel G (28-70mm) and Various Disposable Cameras

The Story: Whether it be my close friends and family, or a total stranger on the street, using film to capture candid moments in people’s lives is something I became enamoured with during my time at Carleton University.

In a world where everyone has become conditioned to turn, face, smile, and pose for the camera, seeking out instances of realness and vulnerability usually comes easiest when I position myself as a fly on the wall. Observing the flow of life around me, seeking out those little stories in the faces and actions of others, capturing individuals entirely unaware of the lens pointed at them.

Or at the very least, capturing a knowing smile in a moment shared between photographer and stranger.

Thank you to all the folks in the wild, both aware and oblivious.
