The Story: When my brother moved from Maplewood, NJ, to Los Angeles, CA, he asked if I would join him on the cross country road trip. With a U-haul trailer hooked up to the back of his Mazda, and approximately 4,500 kilometres between us and our final destination, the two of us set off on our journey through America’s mid-west and beyond.
The uniqueness of this experience was not lost on me. I knew that I would be passing through a dozen states in just 6 days, almost all of which I had never visited before. Because we were driving under a tight schedule, there was no time for sightseeing. Save for gas and state-specific snacks, stops were extremely infrequent. We had a destination to reach, and at the very least had 7 hours of driving a day to reach it.
With all this in mind, I knew my best opportunity to capture the varying topography on the trip would come while sitting in my passenger side seat. And so, while streaking across the country at 140km/hr, I shot America From The Passenger Window.
